Truth & Mercy Series - October 11th 2026
10/11/2026
It was incredibly beautiful celebrating the religious sisters working with us in our parish, Holy Family, this past weekend. After a beautiful hour of adoration and confession, leading to the celebration of the Holy Mass in honor of the guardian angels, we had dinner with our ever energetic and joyful religious sisters. The entire community had dinner provided for the occasion by very generous parishioners, who were grateful for the religious Sisters’ service to the community. It is a great privilege and honor to have two religious communities who chose to call our parish their home and joyfully give of themselves to build this parish community. We have the Franciscan Sisters of Jesus Christ, the Divine Teacher and the Sisters of St. Michael the Archangel. They both have a lot in common, including devotion to the Archangel Michael. The Archangel of the Incarnation and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
This past week has also been one of many blessings to our parish community. We have been hosting the Eucharistic Rosary Congress in our parish. Our Bishop Walsh came last Saturday to declare open the Congress with a votive Mass of the Holy Eucharist. This was followed by 24 hours of adoration for 7 days uninterrupted. Today as I write my series, I already joined the school kids for Holy Mass and Adoration and praying the Holy Rosary. It was beautiful and moving. Some of the kids carried the statue of the Our Lady of Fatima through the church while all the other kids prayed the Holy Rosary according to the various grades. Jesus, Mary and the entire heavenly court must be very happy to hear the little voices of these innocent children. They happily prayed for peace in the world. It was a good time to help the kids navigate the praying of the Holy Rosary and how to move their fingers on the entire chain. I can say without fear of contradiction that the prayers of these children will definitely redound to the glory of God and for the conversion of many sinners in the world, also for the souls in Purgatory. Amen. In total, we prayed about 18, 550 Hail Mary’s with all these children.
Hosting this Eucharistic Rosary Congress can be very difficult but it comes with a lot of graces. Seeing many men and women, youth and children from the different parishes in the neighborhood is very gratifying. For many souls being available during the day and night to offer their time for adoration and the praying of the Holy Rosary is electric and gives graces to our entire diocese. We are speaking of about 10, 080 minutes of Adoration and Rosary. It is actually 604, 800 seconds of adoration and Praying the Holy Rosary before the Blessed Sacrament. This is so much GRACES offered for reparation, rebuilding, and restoration for the entire world. We expect many conversions, many families to receive blessings, and many healings. We expect many employment opportunities for people, safe travels, many couples to have children, many of those who suffer from one addiction or the other to receive help and healing. There are graces for the Pope, Bishops, Priests, Deacons, religious Sisters etc. in their vocations. The list goes on and on. We are so blessed to be having this second year in a row.
Special thanks to all the planning team led by Jane Kroening. I might not have your name in print but the Lord knows you and will reward all your various sacrifices and time spent doing this. I thank all those who came at night to adore or during the day, those who helped with the procession and the Knights of Columbus.
In union of prayers,
Fr. Nicholas Akindele, JCL
